Dowds successfully completed the M&E installations of the 4-storey development consisting of a main pool hall with Northern Ireland’s first FINA standard 50-metre swimming pool, spectator seating, feature pool hall, changing facilities, fitness suite, sports hall, squash courts, function rooms, crèche and changing facilities for 6 outdoor football pitches.
As principal M&E Contractor we were responsible for delivering the building services and complete handover of all newly installed services. The project was designed and installed with energy efficiency of all systems of utmost importance and achieved a Breeam rating of “Excellent”.
Services coordination was the most complex aspect of this installation, which we achieved through regular technical and progress meetings with all parties. Detailed fabrication/installation drawings, including 3D modelling of specific problematic areas, were produced for the complete installation, fully coordinated with all other trades.
Additionally, a high level of coordination was required between Dowds and the pool filtration and water treatment specialists. From the specifications supplied, we aided in the development of full installation drawings that took into account the technical requirements, plant layout, and the limited space available.
