North Wing Phase 1 is complete, having 72 of 144 single-bed wards occupied along with M&E Infrastructure and services. Work is well underway for Phase 2 with superstructure due for completion in September 2019 to allow services to commence installation and be complete by February 2020.
Works on Altnagelvin Hospital also included the extension and refurbishment of the existing Chemotherapy Suite, the refurbishment of the ground floor of the Tower Block, and the construction of an underground car park.
Dowds completed a successful supply and installation of engineering services for the North Wing Extension of Altnagelvin Hospital. The ward block accommodation comprises 6 new departments with a total of 144 adult single-bedrooms, isolation wards, a renal dialysis suite, basement plantrooms and service tunnels.
We pushed for early engagement with our critical supply chain partners who understand the healthcare environment. We worked closely with them using their expertise alongside our own to ensure early agreement of detailed programme and final coordination of M&E services within very confined distribution routes.
