Dowds successfully completed the Mechanical and Electrical installations of this prestigious Museum Storage Facility in Stratford, London.
The new 172,222sqft world-class facility provides museum gallery space, flexible exhibition and performance space, workshops and education spaces, WCs, a café and welcome area, collection storage areas, conditioned collection storage rooms, alongside back of house spaces including offices, conservation studios and technical workshops.
Spanning 16,000m2, it was purpose-built for over 250,000 objects, 350,000 library books and 1,000 archives from the V&A’s collection of fashion, textiles, furniture, theatre and performance, metalwork, ceramics, glass, sculpture, digital, architecture, paintings and product design.
Logistics on this project were challenging due to working within a live environment, we overcame this challenge by carrying out contract lifts during evenings and weekends when possible. We worked alongside the Main Contractor to ensure all staff, visitors, and public were adequately protected from the construction works at all times by the use of hoardings, barriers, etc.
Due to the location, we ensured all deliveries and traffic related interfaces were carried out in accordance with the agreed project Traffic Management Plan.
